What do I really believe?

I have not been much of a writer. Mind you, I have never been much of a reader either. Those two things combined have made it very difficult to keep the blog going over the past couple of years. My real feelings about technology in general have plummited...but that being said, I am here in front of a computer, typing away and planning my next strategic "blogger" move.

We have been to many churches over the past number of years, some small, some huge, some very traditional, others more progressive. But the ones that are truly fulfilling God's work are rooted in the teachings of the Bible and discipling their members to share the GOSPEL of Jesus Christ with their community.

I thank God for the way he has brought me so far. Which brings me to my next point.

I have the awesome pleasure of attending the Word of Life Church here in Olds, Alberta...we just happen to be visiting the parents for Thanksgiving and decided to attend a church in town. Kelsie had some friends from high school that go there, so we thought we would give it a shot. As soon as we walked into the building, there was warmth and acceptance. There were people that greeted us at the door, and showed us to an open seat. The worship music was awesome and I could really feel the Holy Spirit in the building.

The sermon hit me square in the face. The pastor made a statement that blew me away...it was so profound but so simple. You only hunger and thirst for the things you aquire a taste for. Wow! It is so true. You may not dislike something that you are about to eat, but if you fill yourself with something else before you eat, you will not eat as much as you should. The same is true for your spiritual life. If you fill your spiritual pallet with anything else but Jesus Christ and the Word of God, you will not hunger for it as much. You do not dislike the Bible, but you will not crave it like you are suppose to.

By nature I have an addictive personality. I tend to be neurotic this way. I guess admiting it is the first step. TV and internet are huge for me...I tried to fast off of TV for a night. Um, ya...that did not last very long. I cannot go for very long without checking facebook or email. It is so silly! And when I think about it, how much time do I spend with my nose in my Bible? Not much. It has to be an extreme thing for me, to cut out these things and be disciplined in my actions.
